Minced veal steak is a classic dish that is good to serve with e.g. boiled potatoes, fried lingonberries and cream sauce.

It is very easy to make and tastes great when you add grated Parmesan cheese, Scania coarse mustard and thyme to this recipe.

Here you will find my favorite recipe for minced veal steak, which takes about 50 minutes to prepare at home.

Tips for success with ground veal steaks

Before you go shopping and start your recipe, there are a few things to think about. Here are some tips for the success of ground veal steak:

buy organic

I always recommend buying as organic as possible. This applies not only to vegetables, but also to spices, eggs and meat.

let the minced meat rise

For best results, let the ground beef mixture rise for 10 minutes before forming the patties.

use bicarbonate

A good trick to make the steak really juicy is to use bicarbonate. This makes the steak juicier without affecting the taste.

Spoon the melted butter over the steaks

When frying veal steak, remember to add a spoonful of melted butter. This way the steak becomes really juicy and delicious!

A nice and simple recipe for a juicy minced veal steak. Serve with boiled potatoes, cream sauce and raw lingonberries.

  • 500 grams of ground veal

  • 1 first

  • 1 onion

  • 40 grams of grated cottage cheese

  • 0.5 dl breadcrumbs

  • 1 tablespoon coarse mustard

  • 1 tsp thyme

  • 0.5 tsp of salt

  • 0.5 tsp of bicarbonate

  • 1 crore of black pepper

  • 30 g butter + olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Grate the onion and put it in a large bowl with the minced meat, breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
  2. Whisk the eggs, mustard, oregano, salt, bicarbonate and pepper in a small bowl. Mix well and then pour into the bowl with the minced meat.
  3. Mix well by hand.
  4. Let stand for 10-15 minutes and allow to swell, then make patties.
  5. Heat a frying pan with olive oil. Fry the steaks on high heat so that they get a good frying surface on both sides (about 1 minute on each side).
  6. Turn the heat to medium and add a tablespoon of butter to the pan.
  7. While frying the steaks, pour butter and olive oil over them.
  8. Turn the steak over and do the same while frying for about a minute.
  9. Transfer to a plate and cover with foil. Rest for 10 minutes before serving.

4. Let it rise for 10 minutes and then make patties.

5. Fry the steaks on high heat so that they get a nice frying surface (about 1 minute on each side).

Put a big dollop of butter in a frying pan and then pour it over the melted butter while the steaks are cooking.

Veal steak is a classic of Swedish cuisine, which you could say is Wallenberg’s variation. Wallenbergre is also made from minced meat and is a type of pan steak.

Unlike the Wallenbergers, I don’t have cream in the recipe and I also add coarse mustard, parmesan, thyme and bicarbonate to give the steak a great flavor and texture.
