notes
If you don’t have a latte whisk at home, you can also use a stick blender or a blender.
With a stand mixer or whisk, I don’t recommend mixing with milk, as it can get a thick consistency and be very foamy.
You can also use a matcha whisk, but it will take a bit longer to remove the lumps of matcha powder.
When you make traditional matcha tea, you use more water in the recipe, which makes it easier to remove lumps with a matcha whisk. This ice cream has a lower water content, so it is harder to remove lumps with a traditional matcha whisk.

Matcha Iced Latte is a cold and refreshing version of Matcha Latte.
You could say it’s a mix between matcha tea and a classic iced latte. Instead of coffee, they use matcha tea, which is made from matcha powder and water – and sugar or honey as a sweetener.
This is an inventive recipe that tastes like a dream, especially on a hot summer day.
What is matcha?
Matcha is made from green tea leaves that have been ground into a fine powder. Unlike green tea, where the tea leaves are filtered before drinking, the powder is mixed with hot water at 60-70 degrees for even brewing.
Matcha comes from Japan, where it is extracted from tencha, which is steamed green tea. Tencha is grown in a special way and produces a beautiful green powder.
Tencha is grown in the shade and covered with cloth for the last few weeks before harvesting. This technique increases the amount of chlorophyll and brings out the flavors even more. After the tea leaves are boiled, they are dried and then ground into a fine powder.
In Japan, matcha is used in traditional tea ceremonies and served in Japanese teahouses.
What are the health benefits of matcha?
High-quality matcha powder has many health benefits. In addition to being rich in vitamins and minerals, it is also rich in antioxidants called polyphenols.
Polyphenols are said to protect against heart disease and cancer, and also have anti-aging properties. Another polyphenol in matcha, called “EGCG,” is said to increase metabolism and slow or stop the growth of cancer cells, according to research.
Matcha powder also contains a significant amount of caffeine because it is made from whole tea leaves. A cup of matcha tea contains about 3 times more caffeine than a cup of coffee.
But unlike coffee, where too much caffeine can make you feel down, matcha keeps you energized yet calm. This is due to a natural substance in matcha powder called “theanine”.
