Cabbage pudding is a classic of Swedish home cooking. It is a dish made from a mixture of minced meat and cabbage and cooked in the oven.

The dish is usually served with boiled potatoes, raw fried lingonberries and a brown or cream sauce. Anyway, I use the pudding to make a good heaven skewer sauce.

Below is my favorite recipe for cabbage pudding with a light crust that gives the dish a little boost!

Tips for success with cabbage halpa

Before you go shopping and start your recipe, there are a few things to think about. Here are some tips to help you succeed with cabbage pudding:

Mix the chopped white cabbage with the minced meat

I think it tastes best when you mix finely grated white cabbage with minced meat and top it with thickly shredded white cabbage. It gives a really nice texture!

Anyway, you can roughly chop all the white cabbage and layer it into the ground beef mixture.

I have tried this recipe with and without beer and I must say it packs a lot of flavor with light layers.

If you don’t want to use beer, skip it. Even better without!

ground meat substitute

I usually make my cabbage pudding with ground pork, but you can also use mixed ground meat.

Make sky chutney with cabbage puddings

Many people like to eat cabbage halwa with gravy or cream sauce. But I like to make sky chutney with Gobi halwa as it is very good and tasty.

One tip when you plan to make the sky with pudding is to put a heat-resistant cutting board or lid on top of the form and put it on. This way the cabbage pudding does not pop out of the mold.

Cabbage Halwa is a delicious and scrumptious recipe that takes around 1.5 hours to prepare at home. The light crust can be omitted, but is recommended for the best flavor!

  • 500 g minced meat or mixed minced meat

  • 0.5-1 teaspoon of salt

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 200 degrees.
  2. Cut off the thick stem from the cabbage. Chop 2/3 of the cabbage and fry in a small amount of rapeseed oil for about 5 minutes (do not burn). Take into a bowl and add 1.5 tablespoons of sugar syrup, 0.5 teaspoons of salt and 10 million white pepper.
  3. Roughly chop the rest of the cabbage and fry in rapeseed oil for 5 minutes. In another bowl, add 1 tablespoon of sugar syrup, 0.5 teaspoon of salt and 0.5 tablespoon of white pepper.
  4. Finely chop the onion and mix with the ground pork and other ground meat ingredients.
  5. Mix the chopped white cabbage with the minced meat.
  6. Pour the minced meat mixture into a greased pan (about 25×30 cm). Sprinkle coarsely chopped cabbage on top and add 1 dl of light broth.
  7. Bake on the middle level of the oven for about 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the mold and carefully pour the heaven from the cheap into a frying pan or pot.
  9. Put the cabbage halves in the oven and bake for another 10 minutes.
  10. Meanwhile, prepare the Sky Sauce. Add whipped cream, apple cider vinegar and soy. Let it boil
  11. Thin the sauce if necessary by adding a little cornstarch to the water. Taste with salt and white pepper.
  12. Serve the cabbage pudding with cloud sauce, boiled potatoes, raw fried lingonberries and cucumber.

2. Roughly chop the rest of the white cabbage, fry it in the same way and take it in another bowl. Mix 1 tablespoon of sugar syrup, 0.5 teaspoon of salt and 0.5 tablespoon of white pepper.

3. Finely chop the onion and mix all the ingredients for the minced meat in a bowl.

4. Add chopped white cabbage to it.

5. Pour the minced meat mixture into the ghee.

6. Add coarsely chopped white cabbage on top.

7. Bake on the middle level of the oven for 30 minutes. Take away and raise the sky. Pour back and bake for another 10 minutes.

8. While the cauliflower Halwa is being fried for the last 10 minutes, prepare the cloud sauce.

Add whipped cream, soy and apple cider vinegar to the sky. Add salt and pepper to taste and possibly dilute the sauce by adding a little cornstarch to the water.

So you might think that cabbage pudding came after that and was a kind of simplified version of cabbage dolmi, because cabbage pudding is also popular when cooked with minced meat mixture rice.
