notes
Depending on how strong you want the chili con carne, you can adjust the amount of chili and cayenne in the recipe.
My recipe gives a suitably spicy chili con carne, but of course you can add more cayenne pepper or chili for more heat.
More on Chili Con Carne
Chili con carte is a spicy dish consisting of beans and minced meat that is eaten in both Mexico and the United States.
It is most commonly associated with Mexican cuisine, but in Mexico the dish is mainly served in restaurants in tourist areas along the US border.
However, it is believed that the dish originated in American cuisine (Southern USA), in the areas that were formerly Mexican. The states of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona claim the territories where the dish was invented.
Minced meat, chili, onion, garlic, cumin, tomatoes and beans are usually used in the preparation of the food. Stew is traditionally served with rice.
How long does Chile con carne keep?
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Eat 2 a day.
Serving tips
The classic is to serve it with rice and fresh coriander.
Also good with corn, tortilla chips, shredded cheddar cheese, a nice salad, jalapeno and sour cream or crme fraiche.
Can other types of beans be used?
Yes, it’s going well. It is also good to use black beans and white beans (without tomato sauce).
